Charles Ratcliffe, a Labourer at the Ordnance Store Department, was awarded his Royal Humane Society Bronze Medal for, ‘at great personal risk, rescuing three soldiers from drowning at Fort George, Inverness, on the 8th July, 1893.’ (R.H.S. Case no. 26,615).
