William Harry Giddy was commissioned Quartermaster and Lieutenant, Special List, 22 November 1917. He served during the Great War at the British Resting Camp at Faenza, Italy. The latter known as Camp 3, was a camp for troops in transit. In later life Giddy resided at ‘1 The Broadway, Sheerness, Kent.’

Sold with the following related items and documents: Case of issue for the Order of the Crown of Italy,
damaged; M.I.D. Certificate, dated 26 October 1918; Bestowal Document for the Order of the Crown of Italy, dated 31 December 1920, with Ministry of Foreign Affairs enclosure; Letter from the Military Attache, Italian Embassy stating the award of the Italian War Merit Cross to the recipient, dated 9 December 1919; and further War Office correspondence relating to the above awards.
