Three: Private James Stanley, 18th Royal Irish Regiment, later 19th Regiment

James Stanley enlisted at Chatham and joined the 1/18th Regiment in India as a recruit from England on 11 January 1848. After service in Burma and the Crimea he returned to India, stationed largely at Secunderabad, until 1 November 1865 when he volunteered to join the 1/19th Regiment at Peshawur. He served with the 1/19th in the Hazara campaign of July to September, 1865, thus earning the North West Frontier clasp to his India medal. He was discharged at Gosport on completion of his 2nd period of service on 16 April 1872.
