D.C.M. London Gazette 26 July 1917: ‘For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He fought his machine gun with great gallantry under the most intense hostile fire.’

Gergeant Gresty served with the 1/7th Battalion in Gallipoli 1915 and was mentioned in despatches for services during the period 5 May - end June,
London Gazette 5 November 1915. He served in Egypt from January 1916 until sailing to France in February 1917.
