An extremely rare Peninsula Gold Medal by Rundell, Bridge and Rundell, for the battles of Roleia, Vimiera and Talavera

General or Field Officer’s Gold Medal 1808-14, the seated figure of Britannia finely cast and chased in gold, signed ‘RB&R’ in the exergue, the plain reverse engraved in cross-hatched capitals ‘roleia’ and ‘vimiera’, integral gold loop with gold clasp attached, similarly engraved ‘talavera;, this with two further rings attached for suspension, 37mm x 21mm overall, circa 1815-20, an exceptionally rare contemporary piece, good very fine £1500-2000
