Archibald Crawfurd was mentioned in despatches for his services at the capture of the fortress of Punella, 1 December 1844, and was present at the siege of Mooltan 1848-49. He resigned his commission on 1 July 1852 but was drowned between Panwell and Bombay whilst on his way home, 29 July 1852.
