Four: Attributed to Sergeant S. R. Edwards, Royal Artillery, who was killed in action in North Africa, 6 November 1942

1939-45 Star; Africa Star, 1 clasp, 1st Army; Defence and War Medals 1939-45, unnamed as issued, with Army Council enclosure, named to ‘Sgt. S. R. Edwards’; and lid from card box of issue, addressed to ‘Mr. A. E. Edwards, 55 Chichester Road, Seaford, Sussex’, extremely fine (4) £70-£90

Stanley Ronald Edwards was born in 1912 and was educated at Seaford Boys’ School, Sussex. He attested for the Royal Artillery in 1930, and served as a Sergeant with the 4th Field Regiment, Royal Artillery during the Second World War in North Africa. He was killed in action during the Battle of El Alamein, when, as the Regiment came under heavy fire west of Darba, he was hit by an enemy shell. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Alamein Memorial, Egypt, and also on the Seaford War Memorial.

His medals were sent to his father, Mr. A. C. Edwards.
