Natal 1906, 1 clasp, 1906 (Tpr: J. Reed, Natal Carbineers.) contact marks, good very fine £200-£240
J. Reed served with the Natal Carbineers during the Natal Native Rebellion, and was severely wounded on 8 July 1906. A contemporary account states: ‘Trooper Reed, of Newcastle Troop, Natal Carbineers, met with a nasty accident in the bush. He slipped, and to save himself jammed his laded rifle against a rock. The impact fired off the rifle and Reed was shot through the lungs.’
