Arthur Caldicott, a native of Pontypridd, Wales, was born in 1880 and served in South Africa with the 2nd Battalion, South Wales Borderers. Afterwards he transferred to the 1st Battalion, joining them in India.
On 11 September 1914 he re-enlisted, again in the 1st Battalion of his former regiment, disembarking in France on 2 November 1914. He was wounded, returning to England on the hospital ship S.S.
Asturias on 29 December 1914. He transferred to the 2nd Garrison Battalion of the Royal Welch Fusiliers but was discharged due to his wounds on 24 January 1916, receiving the Silver War Badge. He died in Pontypridd in 1934.

Sold with copied Medal Index Card and rolls for all medals and Silver War Badge confirming medal and clasp entitlements. Also with copy of order sheet showing list of 1st Bn. S.W.B casualties embarked for UK on the S.S.
Asturias.
