Charles Vernon Waite, a native of Pocklington, Yorkshire, was born in 1895, and served during the Great War on the Western Front with the 21st (Yeoman Rifles) Battalion, King’s Royal Rifle Corps. His first Military Medal was awarded for bravery in the field performed whilst attached to the 41st Divisional Signal Company, Royal Engineers, and his Second Award Bar was awarded whilst serving with his parent unit, the 21st (Yeoman Rifles) Battalion.
