Pair: Private S. Finn, Royal Fusiliers, who was killed in action during the Great War on the Western Front, 26 October 1914

Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 5 clasps, Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Transvaal, South Africa 1901, South Africa 1902, unofficial rivets between state and date clasps (7796 Pte. S. Finn, Rl: Fus:); Tibet 1903-04, 1 clasp, Gyantse (7796 Pte. S. Finn, 1st Bn. Ryl. Fuslrs.) together with a small locket containing a coloured photograph of Finn in uniform wearing his medals, the reverse with another of a baby, nearly very fine or better (2) £700-£900

Sidney Finn was born in Tottenham, London, and attested for the Royal Fusiliers at Dalston on 25 January 1900. He served in the Mounted Infantry in South Africa from March 1901 to October 1902, and in India from October 1903 to November 1907. He served at Home thereafter until 24 January 1912, when he was discharged at Hounslow. Following the outbreak of the Great War he re-enlisted at Stratford, Essex, and served with the 4th Battalion, Royal Fusiliers. He was killed in action on the Western Front on 26 October 1914. He has no known grave, and is commemorated on Le Touret Memorial, France.
