A Great War M.C. group of three awarded to Captain L. R. D’A. Fisher, Hertfordshire Regiment
Military Cross, G.V.R.; British War and Victory Medals (Capt. L. R. D’A. Fisher) these mounted as worn, together with his son’s Special Constabulary L.S., G.VI.R. (S.Supt. D’Arcy L. Fisher) this in its original named card box of issue ‘Tewkesbury, Gloucetershire’, nearly extremely fine (4)
M.C. London Gazette 29 January 1917. ‘For conspicuous gallantry in action. He led his platoon in the attack with great gallantry and captured his objective. Later, he rendered most valuable services during the consolidation of his position.’
Lionel Robert D’Arcy Fisher was born in 1893 and educated at Malvern College 1908-11. He joined the Inns of Court O.T.C. on 9 November 1914 as a Private in ‘H’ Company, and was commissioned into the Hertfordshire Regiment on 6 March 1915. He served in France from 26 August 1916, where he was wounded.
