Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 4 clasps, Tugela Heights, Relief of Ladysmith, Orange Free State, Transvaal (5306 Pte F. Guerney. S. Lanc: Regt) unofficial rivets between 2nd and 3rd clasps, edge bruising, nearly very fine £70-£90

Frank Gurney/Guerney was born in Ormskirk, Lancashire. He served with the Militia prior to attesting for service with the South Lancashire Regiment in 1897. Gurney served with the Regiment during the Second Boer War (entitled to Q.S.A. with first two clasps and K.S.A. with two clasps), after which he was discharged. He re-engaged for service with the Regiment during the Great War, and served with the 2nd Battalion in the French theatre of war from 20 January 1915.

Gurney was discharged, 9 January 1916, and was entitled to a Silver War Badge and 1914-15 Star trio.
