William Ewings was born in the Parish of Sandford, Crediton, Devon, and attested for the Grenadier Guards at Exeter on 21 July 1854, aged 20, a tailor by trade. He never served abroad, was awarded the L.S. & G.C. medal with gratuity of £15 in 1872, and was discharged on 22 January 1878. He served as a Yeoman Warder at the Tower of London from 26 October 1879. He was also entitled to medals for the Jubilee of 1897 and the Coronation of 1902. He died on 5 December 1910. Sold with copied discharge papers and copied photograph wearing his L.S. & G.C. medal.
