Cyril Arthur Lionel Lowings was a native of Durban, South Africa. He enlisted in 1st (V) Natal Mounted Rifles in June 1940, and transferred to No. 1 Provost Company in January 1941. Lowings subsequently transferred to the General Service Corps, and was then employed at the Prisoner of War Camp, Z/Water, from February 1943. Lowings advanced to Sergeant, and was discharged in September 1945 (entitled to ‘8th Army’ clasp).
