Greek Coinages, Syracuse: Tetradrachm [20 Litrai], struck under the tyrant Dionysios I, c. 405-400

Obverse: συρ: head of Herakles left, wearing lion’s scalp headdress

Reverse: quadripartite incuse square, σ-υ-ρ-α on segments, centred depressed and containing head of Arethusa left

Metal: gold; local weight standard; 1.16g/4h

Condition: Good very fine, a little weakness of strike; bright lustrous gold £900-£1,200
