Richard Brown was born in Oldham, Lancashire, and attested there for the Royal Field Artillery. He served with ‘C’ Battery, 53rd Brigade during the Great War on the Western Front, and died of wounds on 6 July 1916. He is buried in Peronne Road Cemetery, France.
