M.S.M. London Gazette 18 January 1919:
‘In recognition of valuable services rendered with the Armies in France and Flanders.’
Herbert John Spurlock attested for the Royal Engineers at Swindon, and served with the Wiltshire Fortress Company, Wessex Division, R.E., and also the Transportation Branch during the Great War on the Western Front from 23 January 1915. Advanced acting Warrant Officer Class I, for his services during the Great War he was awarded an ‘Immediate’ Meritorious Service Medal.
