Jos Hyde was born at Doncaster, Yorkshire, and attested for the Yorkshire Imperial Yeomanry on 13 February 1901, aged 21, a moulder by trade. He served with the 9th Company (Yorkshire Hussar) in South Africa from 13 March 1901 to 3 March 1902, and was discharged medically unfit on 16 April 1902. Sold with copied discharge papers and other research.
Walter Hyde served with the 5th Battalion, Royal Irish Regiment, in the Balkan theatre from 22 July 1915. He was discharged to Class “Z” Reserve on 8 April 1919.
