Charles I (1625-1649), Chester mint, Halfcrown, mm. sword erect between three gerbs, spirited horse, chst below, b over r in hib, oval garnished shield, 14.76g/12h (Bull 576; Lyall B/2; SCBI Brooker 1111 and Chester 447, same dies; N 2627/1; S 3130). Metal fault on reverse, otherwise good very fine with an excellent horseman, toned, rare £4,000-£5,000
