Mary (1542-1567), Third period (First widowhood), Testoon, 1561, small plain cross over crown with no pellets on band, 5.98g/8h (SCBI 58, 1148, and B fig. 896, same dies; SCBI 35, 1111ff; S 5422 and p.76). With crowned thistle countermark for the revaluation of 1578 on obverse, portrait smoothed, otherwise about very fine and dark-toned, very rare £3,000-£4,000
