A Royal Navy Post 1902 Officer’s 1842 Pattern Dress Sword, the 80.5 cm bright blade by Gieve’s and numbered 3399 with single fuller and etched with the Royal Arms, a crowned fouled anchor and panels scrolling foliage, solid gilt brass hilt incorporating a crowned fouled anchor, lion’s head and mane back strap, leather wire bound white fish skin grip, complete with dress sword knot, its black leather scabbard with gilt brass mounts, no gilt remains on the sword or the scabbard otherwise good overall condition £300-£500

This sword was sold to the present vendor by Lieut. Commander J.H. Ayton (Jersey C.I.), the sword having belonged to his father-in-law Commander Theophile Le Blancq Pirouet R.D, RNR who had seen active service in WWI and WWII.
