Major Alexander Stables served in the Sudan 1885-6 (medal, bronze star) and in the operations in Chitral, 1895, with the Relief Force. He was promoted Major, R.A.M.C., 31 January, 1897, and served on the North West Frontier with the Tirah Expeditionary Force, 1897-8 (2 clasps).
