Edward L. F. Gibbs was born on 11 November 1896, and served with the 2nd Battalion, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry during the Great War, and later with 1st/4th Battalion. In the 1939 Register he is shown as a Relief Signalman for the Great Western Railway, residing at 22 Pearson Street, Stourbridge.
