The Royal Coburg Theatre, named after Prince Leopold of Saxe-Coburg, opened in 1818 but never enjoyed a good reputation. Renamed the Royal Victoria Theatre in 1833 and then the Royal Victoria Hall in 1871, it is today the home of the Old Vic theatre company
