George Skellett was awarded his Meritorious Service Medal, together with an annuity of £10, on 3 June 1911 His annuity was half of that vacated by Hospital Sergeant D. Reid, D.C.M., who had been awarded the D.C.M. with annuity for his services in the Crimea (the annuities for both the D.C.M. and the M.S.M. came from the same pot). He died in 1924.
