Autographed Photograph, signed by Emmeline and Christabel Pankhurst, this famous photograph was taken by the Daily Mirror on October 13th 1908, of the two leading Suffragettes awaiting arrest on the roof of the head office of the W.S.P.U. for issuing handbills inciting a “rush” on the House of Commons during the State Opening of Parliament, good condition £100-150
This lot was sold as part of a special collection, Medals from the collection of the late Mike Leahy.

These handbills resulted in a march on the House of Commons when 24 women and 21 men were taken to prison, and 10 to hospital. Mrs Pankhurst and her daughter were arrested soon after the photograph was taken. Emmeline was sentenced to three months imprisonment, and Christabel to ten weeks.
