James Woodward was born in Manchester and attested for the 52nd Foot at Windsor, Middlesex, on 4 April 1814, aged 19. He served for 11 years, including two additional years allowed for Waterloo, where he served in Captain John Shedden’s Company, and was discharged at Dublin on 9 May 1823, in consequence of a pulmonic affection. Sold with copied discharge papers and other copied research.
