Robert Orr was born in 1884 and attested for the Army Ordnance Corps in Glasgow on 28 November 1915. He served during the Great War in the Balkan theatre of War from 12 October 1915; subsequently transferring to the Royal Engineers, he was appointed Corporal on 15 November 1917. He transferred to the Army Reserve on 25 March 1919.

John Moore Abel was born in Liverpool in 1899 and served during the Great War both with the Royal Welsh Fusiliers on the Western Front at the Infantry Base Depot, ands also with the Mercantile Marine.
