Greek Coinages, Northern Lucania, Velia, Nomos, 334-300, signed by the artist Kleudoros, head of Athena facing three-quarters left, wearing crested helmet ornamented with wings and the signature κλευδωρου across the bowl, rev. lion standing left, tearing at prey, 7.42g (HN Italy 1295; Pozzi 673-4; McClean 1457; SNG ANS 1331; SNG Lockett 556). Struck slightly off-centre, and with the usual reverse die break, otherwise good very fine and attractively toned; struck from an obverse die of accomplished classical style £600-£800
