D.C.M. London Gazette 14 April 1916: ‘For conspicuous gallantry during an attack in carrying urgent messages across the open under heavy fire, and in dressing the wounded in an exposed place. Finally he worked a machine gun after the team had suffered severely.’

Sergeant William Lynch, born Widnes, enlisted Fleetwood, was killed in action, France & Flanders, 15 June 1917.
