Robert Campbell attested for the Scottish Rifles and served with the 9th Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 12 May 1915. Transferring to the Machine Gun Corps, he was appointed Lance Corporal and was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal in the ‘Peace Gazette’ of 3 June 1919. He was discharged Class “Z” on 18 June 1919, and saw later service with the Royal Army Service Corps.

There are several men with the name Frederick Hunt recorded on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission Roll of Honour.
