Royal Dockyard Battalions, c1840-1857, a very fine and rare other ranks die-stamped bronze shako/helmet plate, the crown over oak wreaths enclosing a lined background bearing the fouled anchor, two original soft soldered iron loops to the reverse; together with a very scarce bandsman’s white metal shako/helmet plate, a QVC eight pointed fluted star back plate with an ornate silver plated mount, this featuring a full parley of instruments, crossed colours, and a central title strap ‘ROYAL DOCK YARD BATTN.’, the fouled anchor in the centre, one reverse loop fastener missing, and the bottom star tip buckled, otherwise very good overall condition (2) £250-350
