Major Richard Herbert 'Blanco' White was killed in action against the Japanese at Maungdaw, Burma, on 20th January, 1944. He was serving with the 3rd Battalion 9th Jat regiment and was buried on the battlefield. His body was subsequently moved by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission to the Taukkyan War Cemetery near Rangoon. Accompanied by extensive research and a lengthy biography published in Crown Imperial, 1980.
