M.M. London Gazette 25 April 1941.

“During the assault on Tummar West on 9 Dec 1940, Cpl Roberts’ tank fell into a gun position on top of the gun and its crew. The tank was head down in such a position as to be unable to continue to fire. Cpl Roberts got out to see if it was possible to extricate the tank. As the enemy resistance was virtually over Sgt Hudson and Cpl Bowers brought their tanks to tow Cpl Roberts’ tank out. The ammunition round the gun was on fire and these three N.C.Os attached two tow ropes amid the fire and in constant danger of exploding ammunition succeeding in extricating the ditched tank.”

“Spike” Hudson was taken prisoner in June 1942, at the fall of Tobruk, and subsequently interned in Stalag IVB. Sold with a copy photograph, letters from old comrades and a 7th R.T.R. history.
