ROYAL HUMANE SOCIETY, bronze medal (Dr. E. B. Collings, 2nd Dec. 1914) with ribbon buckle, in its Elkington case of issue, extremely fine

At 12.15 p.m. on the 2nd December, 1914, a boy fell into the canal at Barnsley and his mother went in to try and save him but failed. Dr. E. B. Collings went in from the opposite side and rescued the woman. Again going in he brought the boy out but he did not recover.
