M.C., London Gazette, 1 January, 1918. The regimental history records that 2nd Lieutenant Todd received this award for the Battle of the Menin Road Ridge from the 21st to 23rd September 1917.
Bar to M.C., London Gazette, 1 February, 1919 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty at St. Pierre Vaast Wood on 1 September 1918. He was in command of one of the companies in the attack, and when the other company commander was wounded at the start, he supervised the advance of both for a distance of two miles without any previous reconnaissance. He reached his objective up to time, reorganised and gained touch with the flanks, showing great recource against determined opposition.'

Captain Herbert Stanley Todd was killed in action in the advance towards Rossoy during the operations to capture a strongly fortified position of the Hindenburg Line in the vicinity of Epehy on 18th September, 1918.
