Thomas Richard Baldock was born at St Pancras, London, and served in the 3rd London Rifle Volunteers before enlisting in the 2nd Dragoons on 14 February 1888. Promoted Corporal, 17 May 1890; Sergeant, 3 February 1894; Sergeant Instructor of Fencing, 9 November 1895; Squadron Quarter-Master-Sergeant, 18 February 1899. He served in South Africa from November 1899 to September 1900, and again from March 1901 until June 1904. Promoted to Quarter-Master-Sergeant in July 1905, he was awarded the L.S. & G.C. medal in July 1906, and was discharged on 7 December 1909. Sold with two copy group photographs, with recipient identified, two original letters from his daughter and further research including copy service papers.
