D.F.M., London Gazette, 18 June, 1943: Sergeant George Derek Taylor, No 113 Squadron. 'For gallantry and devotion to duty in air operations.'
Warrant Officer Taylor was killed in action on 23 September, 1944 whilst serving with 113 Squadron stationed in India. The squadron was equipped with Hurricane IIc's employed in a fighter ground attack role against the Japanese in Burma. He was buried at the Kranji War Memorial, Singapore.
