Serjeant Benjamin Smith, 4th battalion, Rifle Brigade, was born at Waltham, Hampshire and enlisted at Gosport, Hampshire. He was killed in action, France / Flanders, 8.5.1915, aged 23 years and his name is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial.
