Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders Photograph Albums (2), the first with interesting original privately taken snaps of the 2nd Battalion on the Western Front towards the end of the War, further pictures of the battalion in Scotland, en-route for India 1919 and life there in 1920; 7th Battalion, five copy photographs c1915; the second album with a comprehensive collection covering the presentation of new colours to the 2nd Battalion at Parkhurst, I of Wight by HRH Princess Louise late 1920’s, 28 large size pictures; together with a very fine framed photograph of an officer in the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders c1912 wearing the regimental blue frock coat and broad-sword but wearing the aigulette of an ADC, his white tropical helmet fitted with spike the white paggri cloth decorated with frontal regimental glengarry/bonnet badge and white feather plume to the side, by Backhouse & Co. Poona; Home Guard acknowledgement to 2nd Lieut JH Carmichael MC thanking him for his services 1952-56 facsimile signature of Anthony Head Secretary of State for War, excellent condition (4) £300-350
The albums are believed to have belonged to Seond Lieutenant Carmichael, who is pictured receiving the colour from Princess Louise.
