Rintoul Edward George Carolin served with the Essex Regiment, variously with the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Battalions, in France and Belgium, 18 March to 15 May, 1915, and 29 May, 1916 to 29 April, 1917, being wounded twice. He served during the Second World War as Temp. Brigadier, 1 April, 1943, with the Essex Regiment and on the staff.
