Caspar Both joined the service in January 1806 and served in the Baltic 1807; in the Mediterranean, in Sicily, 1808-12, including the expedition to the Gulf of Naples in 1809; in the Peninsula 1812-14; in the Netherlands 1814; the campaign of 1815 and the battle of Waterloo, where he was the senior Lieutenant in his battalion. He was slightly wounded at Waterloo on the 18th June, and promoted Major by brevet. He was placed on Half Pay at Kalkhorst, in the Grand Dutchy of Mecklenberg, and died at Schwerin as a Major on 5 September 1864. He was not entitled to, or did not claim, the M.G.S. medal.
