In 1897 to mark the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria, the Liverpool Watch Committee instituted a Good Service Medal, in silver, for those officers who had completed 20 years with an umblemished record or senior officers who had served at their rank between June 1887 and June 1897; bronze medals were similarly awarded to Sergeants and Constables. A total of 49 silver medals are believed to have been awarded.
