Edward James Dolan was born in Grimsby, Lincolnshire, and attested for the Lincolnshire Regiment at Sheffield on 12 September 1914. He served with the 7th Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 14 July 1915, and was killed in action on 12 October 1917. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial, Belgium.
