Robert Exelby enlisted into the 2nd Battalion 95th Foot on 1 April 1809, a volunteer from the North York Militia. He served with the 2nd Battalion at Waterloo and is subsequently shown on the musters from 25 June 1815 as ‘Servant to General McKenzie at Antwerp.’ He returned to England with General McKenzie in September 1815 and was discharged on 23 April 1816, his period of service expired.
