Afghanistan 1878-80, 1 clasp, Kandahar (2051 Corpl. J. Lowe, 2/7th Foot) very fine £160-200

Jesse Lowe was born in Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire. A Shoemaker by occupation, he attested for service in the 3rd Foot in January 1870, aged 19 years, having previously served in the Royal Buckinghamshire Militia. He transferred to the 48th Foot in November 1871 and the 49th Brigade in October 1877. Overseas he served in India, January 1872-February 1880; South Afghanistan, February-October 1880 - taking part in the Siege and Battle of Kandahar as ‘Escort to Guns’, and India, October 1880-May 1882. He was discharged in February 1883. Sold with copied service papers.
