Able Seaman C. L. Smith, Royal Navy, serving on the destroyer leader H.M.S. Nimrod, died on 9 December 1917. He was buried in St. Mary’s Churchyard, Shotley, Suffolk. H.M.S. Nimrod was part of the Harwich force and gained the battle honour, ‘Belgian Coast 1917’.
