Frederick Lowes was born in Hexham, Northumberland and enlisted at Chester-le-Street, Durham. Serving in the 1/5th Battalion Welsh Regiment, he died of wounds in Egypt on 12 November 1917. He was buried in the Cairo War Memorial Cemetery.
