George James Powys enlisted at Birkenhead, Cheshire and served initially in the South Wales Borderers. Later as Private in the 17th Battalion Royal Welsh Fusiliers, he was killed in action on 8 October 1918, aged 19 years. He was buried in the Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gouy, Aisne, France. He was the son of William and Lydia Powys of 9 Oakleigh Grove, Bebington, Birkenhead,
